In 1958, Tokuichi Kuribayashi established Tokumaru Pearl Co., Ltd. The founder of our company, Tokuichi Kuribayashi, set up a joint pearl company (Pearls Proprietary Ltd.) between Japan and Australia, after being successful in the cultured pearl business in the South Pacific. On the west coast of Australia there is a bay called gKuri Bayh which was named after our founder. @ Our company previously focused on selling South Pacific pearls. However, today we sell original jewelry (Mirwald Products) that Mirwald who is currently a german Goldschmiedemeister and his apprentice craftsmen create, pearl products, and another reasonable original product, gjuwelierh. We hold pride in checking each gem stone one by one in Idar-Oberstein,Germany, the center of gemstones where buyers from around the world gather, and Antwerp, Belgium, in order to import the finest quality at a reasonable price. For more infomation of "Kuri bay" , Please see the wikipedia's article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pearling_in_Western_Australia |

Gerhard Mirwald (Goldschmiedemeister)Gerhard Mirwald learned the joy of designing and creating beautiful and practical pieces under professor Rickert at the Academy of Arts in Munich and while working at Bayern State operated Munich Residenz Museum became deeply involved in the extensive history of European jewelry. During his employment at a first class jewelry shop located in Konigsalle, Dusseldorf, he learned about precious stones and how to set these stones beautifully into jewelry. Later in 1966 he passes the master goldsmith certificate with top marks, and marries Kinuko Kuribayashi, the daughter of the first man to be successful in cultivating pearls in the South Pacific. In 1967, he opens a workshop in Tokyo where he continues to create pieces with the help of two spectacular Japanese craftsmen.@ Here he begins to create unique design jewelry using only gold or platinum. The works of Mirwald, created with love, are different from the mass produced clones. They are like brothers or sisters. Although they are created through similar steps, one can not help but notice a difference in each of his pieces. |
